Douglas County’s full tax base rose to $12.9 billion dollars which is notably larger than the U.S median and worth mentioning is the favorable financial position reflecting the cash balance as a percent of operating revenues is far superior to the U.S. median increasing significantly between 2014 and 2018 under Romona’s leadership. Douglas County’s overall general fund reserves are at $10 million dollars and within 10% of the overall budget as recommended for Georgia counties. Under Romona’s leadership, the current millage rate is 10.213 improving from 11.267 upon taking office. She is masterful at managing turbulent budgets and under her leadership county property taxes have not been raised within the last three years. The median household income is $67,280 up from $57,384 and the combined new growth in the tax digest increased by 10% significantly up from 0.9% since Romona Jackson Jones has taken office as Commission Chair in Douglas County.
